In September 2014 the National Curriculum changed and the children currently in Year 2 and 6 started to learn from a new curriculum. In the summer term in Year 2 and 6 children will take part in a statutory test to see if they have learnt and retained the curriculum taught to them and to measure how they achieve against their peers.

In Year 1 children will take part in the phonics screening to see if they have mastered the phonological understanding expected for their age group. If they do not reach this level by the end of Year 1 they will have further intervention and be re-tested in Year 2 and possibly Year 3
